15th Birthday Project - Lily Vanilli

An ongoing initiative in celebration of birthday cakes for all

Born in the throes of the cost of living crisis, the project aims to get birthday cakes to children who might not otherwise have one, across all boroughs of the capital.

We’re working with the Mayor’s Fund for London – a charity that champions opportunities for young Londoners from low-income backgrounds and diverse communities, Lily will distribute birthday cakes throughout the year to children throughout the capital

Customers can donate either the cost of a cake from our specially designed range (£40) or any contribution, big or small, towards a cake and delivery. Donors (or the people they gift on behalf of) will receive a fabulous digital thank you via email.

Recipients will select the design they like from the range, then customise the flavour: from vanilla to chocolate to rose, coconut, lemon, raspberry, and salted caramel, and can choose and also add a piped message and their chosen colour scheme.

Lily says:

“We’re celebrating fifteen years of the bakery this year and felt there’s no better way to mark the occasion than to celebrate the importance of birthday cakes for everyone, and the ethos of sharing that they represent.

I’ve worked with the MFL for a while now and am so passionate about the work they’re doing to help children around London; I’m thrilled to be able to play a part in the cause. There’s something so unique and important about having a cake baked especially for you, to share with loved ones, I think everyone should have the chance to experience it, and in the current climate it’s important to remember and celebrate that.”

Donations for the Lily Vanilli Birthday Project, starting at £1, can be made here. The cost of a whole birthday cake is £40.

Cakes will be allocated to children via the Mayor’s Fund for London across all boroughs of the city, direct to the recipient’s chosen address. Those who donate will receive a digital thank you.

About the Mayor’s Fund for London:

The Mayor’s Fund for London (MFL) is a politically independent charity championing opportunities for young Londoners from low-income backgrounds and diverse communities across the capital. With the Mayor for London (the office, not individual) as their Patron, the charity has worked with 35,000 young Londoners aged four to twenty-four, supporting them with food and well being, education and skills, and employment and enterprise across every borough of London.

The MFL is London’s largest provider of holiday food and activities for children and young people. 82% of the young Londoners impacted by MFL came from Black, Asian and minority backgrounds. The MFL’s Kitchen Social network spans grass roots community organisations: primary and secondary schools (those with high % of young people accessing free school meals), and universities. In 2022, the MFL delivered 10 million meals this year across London in partnership with The Felix Project.
